Saturday (8/3) - Welch Swim Team End of Season Awards Banquet and Night Swim
Welch Swim Team's Annual End of Season Awards Banquet will be held Saturday evening from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM.  We will celebrate the end of the Welch Swim Team season with swimmer awards, food, a season highlight video, and swimming.  As was in prior years, this is a potluck type event where pizza and drinks will be provided and we ask each family to bring a food item to share as follows:

Last names A to M: Help with set-up at 5:30 and bring a side dish or salad
Last names N to Z:  Help with clean-up and bring a desert.

Please use this 2013 Welch Swim Team Banquet RSVP so that we can obtain an appropriate headcount.

There is one major change to this year's banquet compared to prior years.  We will start the banquet indoors at the State College High School NORTH building cafeteria.  The indoor start insures that we can continue with the food and awards with little concern with the outside weather conditions.  Furthermore, the season video can be viewed much sooner and without the need to wait for darkness which should help those families with younger children to see the video.  At the completion of the indoor activities we will move back to Welch Pool for the team's family members open swim period until 9:30 PM.

PARKING:
For Banquet parking, please continue to use either parking lot on the Westerly Parkway side of the school and Welch Pool because we will move to the pool for the team family open swim after the completion of all indoor activities.

Please give yourself enough time to account for the heavier late afternoon traffic that heads East along Rt-322 towards Potters Mills and Seven Mountains to arrive before the scheduled pool warm-up time in order to check in and receive any further instructions from your coaches.

Directions to Lewistown's Rec Park Pool (100 or 105 Cherry St. Lewistown, PA 17044)

Follow 322 East from State College\Potters Mills towards Lewistown At Lewistown, take the East Charles Street exit Turn right at first light onto S. Dorcas St. Turn right on to Montgomery St. At the stop sign (3-way stop) continue straight on Montgomery St. Turn right on Cherry St. (Rec Park entrance) and proceed down the hill. Parking lot is on right side of road beyond pool.  Normal drive time approx. 30 min from State College.  Please drive carefully.

Welch Pool - Morning Parking CHANGE

Good morning Welch Parents,

We've been informed that beginning on Tuesday, July 30 it will be necessary to park your cars across the street in the NORTH High School parking lot during Welch Swim Team's morning practice.  The State High Marching Band will be practicing in the South Building's lot from 9:00AM until 12 noon.

Directions to Penn's Valley Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Pool in Millheim:

Follow 45 East from State College/Boalsburg. From Centre Hall (intersection of Routes 45 and 144) travel east on Route 45.  As you enter Millheim, go straight at the traffic light, take a slight left (after the bridge) onto Park Road.  Park Road then turns to the left, follow Park Road until it takes a left into the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Park.

Thank you Welch Parent Volunteers

Thank you to all the Welch Parents who volunteered for last Thursday's Welch Sharks Pancake Breakfast.  We had a flurry of volunteers come together to provide griddles, spatulas, and help prepare and serve our hungry sharks.  Weatherwise, it was a perfect morning for hot pancakes and the swimmers appeared to enjoy this team treat.

Also, thank you to all the Welch Parents who volunteered to assist with the running the away meet Thursday evening at SPRA.  Your turnout made the meet run fast and efficient.  We hope you enjoyed the meet volunteer experience.  We greatly appreciate and look forward to your continued service and hope that many more of our Welch Parents will join us on deck.
