Park Forest Day of Joy Relay Meet (for Welch Swimmers)

Every year, we do a "Day of Joy" relay meet at Park Forest. It's a fun, little bit goofy, unscored meet held on a Saturday every summer (July 20th in this case).

We have a flyer handout about the meet that you can find HERE.

It contains almost everything you need to know about the meet. If you have any questions, talk to your coaches.

The good news for parents is that the Park Forest food crew will be there making breakfast.

If you wish to experience unbounded joy, you should go to this meet.

CHAMPS information

Orders for CHAMPS shirts are due Wednesday, July 17.  Please print the order form from the ‘Champs’ tab above and return the form with your payment to Holly Torbic or Sean Flynn.  Checks need to be payable to ‘Welch Swim Team.’  Shirts will be delivered at CHAMPS.
 

Our league will hold an end-of-season CHAMPS meet again this year.  CHAMPS is a league wide five team (Welch, Park Forest, SPRA, Penns Valley, and Lewistown) competition.  All events are scored individually, with awards being given to the top 12 places within each age group.  Swimmers can swim in 4 events of their choice.

The end-of-season CHAMPS meets will be held the first weekend of August.  ‘Big Kid’ CHAMPS (ages 11 and up) will be held Friday, August 2 at 6:00 pm at Lewistown.  ‘Little Kid’ CHAMPS (ages 10 and under) will be held at Penns Valley on Saturday morning, August 3.  Swimmers need to swim in 2 meets during the season in order to participate in CHAMPS. 

There will be a sign-up form specifically for CHAMPS, which will be available next week.  It will be posted under the ‘Champs’ tab and also available at the pool.  Please see Stephen Boris with questions.

Next week we have 2 meets :   away meet at Penns Valley (with Lewistown) on Tuesday, July 16

                                                   HOME meet against Penns Valley (with Lewistown) on Thursday, July 18

 

Swimmer sign-ups will be Friday (tomorrow July 12) and Monday (July 15).

 

Please sign-up to volunteer for both meets under the ‘Sign-ups’ tab above.  We know of many people who are travelling next week, so we will need everyone to volunteer.

Meet @ PF today!!

Today is our meet @ Park Forest!! Swimmers be @ the PF pool by 5:15!! Parents volunteer & start stretching for the Welch vs. PF parent relays!! Watch the blog for any weather related cancellations. If nothing is posted the meet is ON!!

An Invitation from Coach Steve Power of the YMCA

Hello Summer League Parents:

                  My name is Steve Power and I am the Head Coach of the State College Area YMCA (SCAY) Aqualions.  I would like to invite you and your swimmers to participate in our annual Stroke Clinic, this year being held September 3 – 6, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. each day at the Y.  All details are included in the attached Stroke Clinic flyer.

                  During the Clinic we will work on technique for all four competitive strokes.  All SCAY coaches and many of our senior swimmers will be on deck each day helping your swimmers learn about their swimming and the importance of being on a swimming team.

                  At the conclusion of the Clinic swimmers will receive a Clinic t-shirt and a certificate of participation.  SCAY will begin our Fall/Winter season on Monday, September 9.

                  During the week of the Clinic there will be information provided to you concerning the exciting aspects of being on SCAY.

Away meet at Park Forest is tomorrow!!

Our away meet at Park Forest is tomorrow, July 9.  Swimmers need to be signed up to swim by the end of practices TODAY!!
